About Us

Byeline Design is a brand new design firm located in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.  In the past, we’ve leaned toward more alternative, cutting-edge design.  A lot of our clients have been bands, but we’re eager to wax professional with the local suits.  You can see our wide variety of styles in our site’s portfolio gallery or on our Flickr photostream.  We’re experienced in telecommuting, have a combined 12 years in design, and can’t wait to start a business together.  Just to clarify who “we” are…

Dylan Simonds - Dylan is a graduate of Illinois State University.  He has his Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and has been creating digital art since the first time he used MSPaint as a toddler.  Dylan is a true artist and a good soul.  Nowadays, Dylan can handle any project from band t-shirts to Web 2.0-style logos for iPhone applications.  He also has experience in sound recording, video editing, and web development.  Did I mention he can play the drums, too?  Truly a jack of all trades and a trained professional in design for any media.

Cole Blotcky - Cole is our wild card.  If you saw some artwork in the portfolio gallery that shocked or offended you, there is a pretty good chance that he’s responsible for it.  From the cornfields of Illinois, Cole was scooped up by local band The Junior Varsity at the tender age of 18 to sell merch on tour.  He toured the country twice (and Europe once), ran a screenprinting company from his dad’s basement, and worked for apparel design guru Jimmy Breen of Heartcore Clothing.  Now he’s back and working for Byeline.  What Cole may lack in manners he makes up for with creativity and cojones.

Lawrence Davis - That’s me.  I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication.  I’m lucky that these 2 talented artists let me in on the moniker they’ve been designing under since high school.  I do a lot of behind-the-scenes web development.  I’m tall, I have a beard and two cats, and I love jazz.
